About the role

Baseten is building a platform for AI agents, and the Agent Infra team owns the microVM layer for sandboxes. The role involves owning the lifecycle of sandboxes (start, stop, snapshot, fork, resume), tuning custom Linux kernels on bare-metal servers, managing host resources, and designing multi-tenant isolation. The team is small with large ownership, shipping in weeks. Ideal for engineers experienced with KVM, Firecracker, Cloud Hypervisor, or QEMU, and strong systems programming in Rust/Go.

Requirements

Hands-on experience with KVM and Firecracker, Cloud Hypervisor, or QEMU. Deep understanding of Linux internals: namespaces, cgroups, memory management, boot path. Experience building multi-tenant cloud infrastructure where isolation is a security boundary. Strong systems programming in Rust and/or Go; C/C++ also welcome. Experience debugging performance and correctness across userspace and kernel boundaries. Ability to move fast and own problems end to end on a small team.
