Software Engineer - Observability

Baseten is seeking Software Engineers to join the Observability team. The role involves building high-throughput telemetry ingest pipelines, cost-efficient storage, and agentic diagnostic tools to ensure reliability and operational excellence as the infrastructure scales across multi-cloud and diverse hardware. Responsibilities include designing scalable pipelines for metrics, logs, and traces, evolving observability platforms, building instrumentation libraries, and driving alerting and SLO.

Deep experience with at least one observability signal area (metrics, logging, tracing, or error analytics). Understanding of high-throughput data pipelines, columnar storage engines. Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry or similar. Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, or Go. Excellent communication skills. Interest in applying AI/LLMs to operational workflows. Comfortable working independently on ambiguous challenges.
