Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

Figma is hiring a Software Engineer for its Infrastructure team to design and operate distributed systems powering real-time collaborative design tools. The role involves architecting storage platforms, compute orchestration, improving developer experience, and mentoring engineers. Full-time, can be based in US hubs (San Francisco, New York) or remote within US.

Candidates need 5+ years of backend/infrastructure engineering experience, deep distributed systems knowledge (sharding, replication, consistency), cloud-native experience (AWS/GCP/Azure), infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration, and proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust, or Ruby. Strong system design and communication skills. Preferred: scaling storage/streaming, traffic management, developer tools, AI-assisted development.
