Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

Design, build, and operate the infrastructure systems that power Figma's real-time collaborative design tools used by millions worldwide. Responsibilities include architecting distributed systems (storage, streaming, compute orchestration), improving developer experience (CI/CD, internal platforms, APIs), and collaborating cross-team to shape platform strategy. Debug production issues, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of technical excellence.

5+ years backend/infrastructure engineering experience. Deep understanding of distributed systems (sharding, replication, consistency). Experience with cloud-native (AWS/GCP/Azure), IaC, container orchestration. Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python, Rust, or Ruby. Strong system design and communication skills. Bonus: scaling Postgres/Redis/S3/DynamoDB/Kafka, traffic management/Envoy/Istio, realtime systems, developer tooling.
