About the role
Zscaler is seeking a Principal Production Engineer to drive automation-first culture, design highly available infrastructure across AWS/GCP/bare-metal, implement observability (Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry), lead incident management, and partner with engineering teams. The role is hybrid in San Jose, CA or remote. The company provides a zero trust security platform processing 200+ billion transactions daily.
Requirements
10+ years managing reliability/scalability for large-scale production services, deep expertise in Python/Go/C++, networking protocols, Linux/RHEL, distributed architecture, incident management, ITIL frameworks. Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies. Preferred: cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), IaC (Ansible/Terraform/Helm), chaos engineering, global routing (BGP), traffic tunneling (GRE/IPSec), L7 proxy (HAProxy), DNS at scale.
