Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Backend Platform)

The Backend Platform team at Perplexity builds critical infrastructure for authentication, authorization, real-time data flows, service orchestration, and sandboxing to ensure fast, reliable, secure user experiences. This role involves leading design and implementation of sandboxing platform, defining RBAC and authorization primitives, owning backend services for auth and encryption, setting technical bar, partnering with product and AI teams, and providing technical leadership.

Experience designing and building backend systems in production (4+ years for mid-level, more for senior and staff). Strong system design skills, hands-on experience with infrastructure like AWS and Kubernetes, proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust, collaborative mindset, and comfort in security-sensitive areas.
