Staff Software Engineer, Sustaining

Chainguard is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Sustaining Automation team to design and build automation systems for secure container images. This role involves architecting the automation platform, building AI-powered tooling with LLMs, writing production Go, and mentoring teammates. The engineer will drive technical vision and collaborate across a distributed team.

7+ years software engineering with strong Go expertise, experience with AI/LLM integration, systems architecture, developer tools, Linux/build systems, container ecosystem (Docker, OCI, Kubernetes), and ability to shape team direction. Preferred: Linux distribution experience, production services, open source contributions, supply chain security, melange/apko/Wolfi, compliance frameworks.
