About the role
Docker seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical direction for AI Developer Tools, building AI-powered developer tools and a self-service platform. The role involves designing AI agents for code review, test generation, deployment diagnostics, and incident response, as well as platform infrastructure for prototyping and deploying AI tools. The engineer will set patterns and standards, mentor senior engineers, and work with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
8+ years software engineering experience with technical leadership on production systems. Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications or AI agents. Strong understanding of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, agent orchestration. Track record of designing scalable distributed systems and developer-facing platforms. Proficiency in Go, Rust, Java, or Python. Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes, GitOps, observability, CI/CD). Clear communication, mentoring, and product jugd.
