About the role
Docker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build the AI Gateway, a control point for AI agents. Responsibilities include setting technical direction, architecting secure infrastructure, building model routing, policy enforcement, and mentoring engineers. The role involves working with distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and LLM APIs.
Requirements
8+ years backend engineering, deep specialization in distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, API design, fluency in Go/Rust, experience building secure high-throughput services, strong product mindset, Bachelor's in CS or equivalent. Preferred: experience with LLM APIs, RAG, policy engines, OAuth, Kubernetes, Docker.
