Staff Software Engineer, Payments (AirCover Insurance Platform)

The AirCover Insurance Platform team builds systems behind AirCover, including Host liability insurance, Experiences liability insurance, and Host damage protection. The role involves leading design and evolution of core subsystems for policies, coverage, enrollment, and regional rules, as well as experimentation capabilities. The staff engineer will establish technical vision, deliver flexible, scalable solutions, and mentor engineers.

9+ years of software development experience in fast-paced tech (or 7+ with advanced degree). Expertise in backend systems, service-oriented architectures, and languages like Java, Kotlin, Python, Go. Experience with multi-region or multi-tenant platforms, A/B testing, experimentation systems, and high-performance systems with monitoring and logging. Good judgment balancing short-term needs with long-term quality. Experience in insurance, payments, fintech or regulated domains is a plus. Hands-on technical leadership across teams, excellent communication skills. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
