Staff Software Engineer, Finance Engineering

Anthropic is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Finance Engineering to design and build a distributed finance platform including an append-only ledger, event bus, and accounting engine with high correctness. The role involves building APIs, SDKs, controls, and production services, collaborating with billing, compute, and finance teams. The ideal candidate has strong backend engineering experience in statically typed languages and event-driven systems.

Strong backend engineering in Go, Java, Rust, or Python at scale. Experience with high-volume event-driven systems, relational data models, APIs/SDKs, auditability, and turning non-engineering requirements into designs. 10+ years experience preferred. Experience with streaming systems, LLMs, ledger/billing systems, accounting concepts, internal controls, and ERP systems.
