Senior Payments Engineer — Acquiring & Payment Processing

Sezzle is hiring a Senior Payments Engineer to own and scale the acquiring and payment-processing stack. This backend-focused, high-ownership role involves integrating with payment processors (Stripe, Adyen, Fiserv, Plaid), building idempotent, fault-tolerant transaction processing, and mentoring teammates. The role requires 7+ years of backend experience, strong Go skills, and demonstrated use of AI tools like Claude. The compensation range is $5,000 - $9,500 USD per month.

7+ years of backend engineering experience with payments/fintech systems. Strong Go (or Python) and REST API skills. Hands-on experience integrating with payment processors and familiarity with payments fundamentals (authorization, settlement, tokenization, reconciliation, chargebacks). Experience with distributed cloud architectures using transactional outboxes or queuing tools (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ). Demonstrated use of Claude or equivalent LLM. Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
