Senior Software Engineer, Product Platform

Block is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Stores team within Product Platform Engineering. The role involves designing, building, and operating database and storage platform software, building services and APIs that automate database lifecycle operations, solving scaling and performance problems, partnering with engineering teams on schema design, leading technical projects from problem framing to operational ownership, and using AI tools to accelerate development.

A minimum of 5 years of related experience (or equivalent), strong software engineering fundamentals, production experience with relational databases, practical understanding of database concepts like transactions, indexing, replication, and query performance, expertise in one or more areas such as database infrastructure, distributed storage, Kubernetes, or observability.
