Lead Engineer on Xero's Payments Platform, driving early-stage initiatives and foundational architectural decisions for money movement capabilities. Responsibilities include building shared platform capabilities (orchestration, risk/fraud, multi-provider), global bill payments, high-throughput distributed services, and AI integration. Must-have: proven track record delivering highly available distributed backend systems and high-throughput services; experience building platforms from idea to production; deep understanding of system architecture, API design, databases; proficiency in C#, Java, Go, or C++ and AWS; strong technical leadership and mentoring; hands-on approach with AI tools. Nice-to-have: payments/fintech experience, system modernization, cross-functional partnership.
