Technical Lead, Distributed Systems - Messaging

Lead Software Engineer role in Klaviyo's Messaging Infra organization. Provides technical leadership to engineers building and scaling real-time, event-driven services for Klaviyo's messaging pipeline across email, SMS, mobile push, WhatsApp. Owns architecture of key components, designs scalable backend services in Python/Go, and works on a campaign pipeline processing hundreds of millions of messages daily with p99 latency tracking.

8+ years engineering experience with online, real-time distributed systems. Ownership of production services measured in messages/events per second with p95/p99 latency. Experience with streaming or message-queue platforms like Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ. Proficient in Python and/or Go. AWS infrastructure scaling. Strong product and business mindset. AI experimentation interest.
