Staff Engineer, Core Services Platform

Strava's Core Services Platform teams build the scalable foundations behind features like the feed and photo/video sharing, plus experimentation and notifications. This role owns the technical vision for social platform services, drives major modernization efforts, partners with product teams, and shapes social platform development. The engineer acts as tech lead for a small pod, sets technical direction, and balances long-term architectural investments with near-term product delivery.

10+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of setting technical direction. Experience leading technical projects, acting as tech lead, and driving roadmaps. Strong system design for distributed systems at scale. Proficiency in at least one of Ruby, Scala, Go, or Java. Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, MySQL, Redis, and Cassandra.
