Forward Deployed Security Engineer

The Forward Deployed Security Engineer (FDSecE) at OpenAI is responsible for securing novel applications of OpenAI's technology for strategic public sector customers. The role involves embedding with customers, implementing security controls, collaborating with teams, and ensuring security from design to operations. The position is based in Washington DC with hybrid work and travel to customer sites.

Active US security clearance required. 5+ years security engineering experience with infrastructure, application, network, and datacenter security. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure primitives (Kubernetes, Terraform). Proficiency in Python, Golang. Experience in security operations, insider threat monitoring, red teaming. Knowledge of modern adversary tactics. Ability to work cross-functionally and navigate ambiguity.
