Software Engineer, Enterprise Controls

OpenAI is seeking an experienced backend software engineer to build enterprise access, governance, and sharing systems for ChatGPT, Codex, and other products. The role involves designing backend services for permissions, authorization, and governance, developing sharing capabilities between people and agents, and leading technical delivery. Based in San Francisco.

9+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, excluding internships. Deep backend expertise with Python, Go, Rust, Java, or C++. Experience designing distributed services, APIs, and data models. Experience building authorization, permissions, or enterprise governance systems. Strong product judgment and communication skills. Track record of owning production systems.
