Software Engineer, Strategic Projects

Tailscale is seeking a Software Engineer for the Strategic Projects team to take prototypes to production. The role involves working with product-minded engineers, hardening prototypes, owning production bar, working with reference customers, and closing long-tail gaps. The team is AI-native, using coding agents heavily. The role requires Go experience, comfort with coding agents, and ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment. Light travel required.

Ideal candidates have experience taking software from prototype to production in startup-like environments. Must have Go experience, comfort integrating third-party APIs, basic networking, heavy daily use of coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.), and enjoy collaborating with product-minded engineers. Nice-to-haves include production operations, identity infrastructure, LLM applications, open source contributions, and Python/Rust/TypeScript.
