Director of Engineering, Data Platform

Pendo's Data Platform processes over 50 billion events per day and manages petabytes of data. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead teams that own the infrastructure for real-time data ingestion, batch processing, and analytics. This leadership role involves setting strategy, building teams, owning cost economics, partnering with SRE, driving architectural decisions across storage and compute, and acting as a technical authority in customer conversations.

Several years of engineering management experience managing managers in high-growth SaaS. Demonstrated experience building large-scale data-intensive distributed systems (50B+ events/day, petabyte-level). Strong experience in real-time ingestion, batch processing, and analytics. Cost forecasting and optimization skills. Deep experience with SQL, NoSQL, columnar, vector databases. Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
