Senior Software Engineer, Distributed Systems

LiveKit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on core services, telephony, and observability for its real-time AI infrastructure platform. The role involves designing and evolving distributed systems that power LiveKit Cloud, implementing resilient architectures, building libraries and tooling, and diagnosing critical paths using metrics and tracing. The ideal candidate has strong programming fundamentals, experience with distributed systems, and Go fluency.

You have experience designing and delivering distributed systems in production. You take ownership end-to-end, are comfortable with consensus and coordination, and think in terms of data flow, state, performance, and correctness. Go fluency is required, as is hands-on experience with pub/sub, RPC, or coordination systems like NATS, etcd, Raft. Exposure to real-time or low-latency infrastructure and shipping observability tooling is a plus.
