Staff Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

The Staff Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure role is on the Data Foundations team, building and operating large-scale batch and streaming data platforms (Kafka, Spark, Airflow) that power product features, analytics, and ML. The role involves architecting data infrastructure, building self-serve platforms, and mentoring engineers. Patreon's mission is to fund the creative class.

8+ years software engineering experience, 4+ in data/platform infrastructure. Deep experience with batch (Airflow, Dagster) and stream processing (Spark, Flink, Kafka Streams). Strong Python and SQL skills. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, data stores (S3, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, Clickhouse, Elasticsearch). Excellent collaboration. Bachelor's in CS or equivalent. Bonus: Delta Lake/Iceberg, AWS, Databricks, open-source contributions, ML/AI workflows.
