Backend Engineer - Transfers Gateway

SumUp's Transfers Gateway squad builds and maintains backend services for money movement across EU/UK. The role involves building production services, contributing to technical design, improving reliability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Tech stack includes Go, AWS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes. The team follows a 'build it, run it, improve it' model with strong observability.

Experience building backend services in production, ability to implement solutions independently, familiarity with cloud systems and containerized workloads, automated testing, understanding of system architecture and API design. Plus: exposure to banking/payments, incident response, AI-assisted tools.
