About the role
Okta seeks a Senior DBRE to design, operationalize, and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL databases for large-scale systems. Responsibilities include architecture, automation, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration. Requires 4+ years PostgreSQL experience, strong internals knowledge, MySQL, automation with Go/Python, cloud experience (AWS/GCP).
Requirements
Required: 4+ years hands-on PostgreSQL in high-volume production; strong PostgreSQL internals (WAL, MVCC, bloat/vacuum, query planner, indexing, logical replication); production MySQL experience; advanced SQL and schema design; Linux, networking, troubleshooting; automation with Go or Python; monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.); cloud (AWS/GCP). Preferred: PgBouncer, HAProxy, Kafka, Debezium, on-call, open-source contributions.
