Staff Software Engineer, Data

Sift is building the data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. This Staff Software Engineer will design and build a horizontally scalable platform to ingest millions of hardware sensor data points per second, develop durable database solutions, and pioneer data architecture with cloud-native designs. You'll help define engineering culture and collaborate on scaling strategies. Technologies include Go, Rust, Kafka, Flink, PostgreSQL, and cloud tools.

Bachelor's degree in STEM, 7+ years backend/infra/data engineering, experience with stream processing (Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, Beam), relational/time-series databases (PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, TimescaleDB), large-scale distributed systems or low-latency services (Go/Rust/Python), DevOps (Kubernetes, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Terraform), and strong communication skills. Nice-to-haves: telemetry data, columnar storage (Arrow, Parquet), scaling to billions.
