Senior Staff/Staff Software Engineer

Senior Staff Software Engineer at Heron Power, a startup building power electronics for the grid. You will set technical direction for software systems that run the company, including backend services, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and developer tooling. Work hands-on with hardware, manufacturing, and operations teams to translate real-world requirements into reliable, scalable software. Own architecture, code quality, and mentorship across the team.

Master’s degree in CS or equivalent, 10+ years software engineering experience including Staff/Principal IC level. Deep expertise in backend services, distributed systems, data modeling, APIs. Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript. Hands-on with AWS, containers, Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions), observability (Grafana, Prometheus), security practices. Strong communication and mentorship. Preferred: experience in manufacturing/supply chain systems, greenfield platform
