Senior Software Engineer, Underwriting

This role involves designing and building backend services for Coalition's cyber insurance underwriting platform. The engineer works with Python/Go, integrates machine learning and statistical models, and collaborates with underwriters, data science, and other teams. Responsibilities include creating scalable APIs, automating decisioning workflows, ensuring operational stability with observability tools, and leading small to medium initiatives.

Strong experience building backend APIs in Python or Go, familiarity with REST, gRPC or GraphQL, cloud deployment on AWS, and observability tools (Sentry, Datadog, etc.). Must have source control (Git), agile development experience, and a degree in CS or equivalent. P4-level ownership and mentoring ability required.
