Staff Software Engineer (Backend)

Kargo is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to own technical direction across backend services and shared platform capabilities. This hybrid role requires onsite presence 4 days per week in NYC. The engineer will define service boundaries, lead cross-team initiatives, address platform weaknesses, improve engineering effectiveness, and invest in senior engineers.

Deep proficiency in Go, strong systems design fundamentals (APIs, concurrency, fault tolerance), hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS in production, operational instincts for monitoring and incident response, ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives, strong communication. Preferred: familiarity with RTB, SSP, or auction systems.
