About the role
Shift5 delivers operational intelligence for onboard OT across defense, aerospace, and commercial transportation fleets. The Principal Platform Engineer is the senior-most IC on the Platform Engineering team, driving technical strategy, mentoring, and leading release engineering, cloud infrastructure, supply chain security, OS lifecycle, AI enablement, and team leadership.
Requirements
Required: 10+ years in software/platform engineering, 5+ years managing production infrastructure, technical and people leadership, hands-on mastery of Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions/Earthly, Terraform/OpenTofu, AWS/GovCloud, supply chain security (Cosign, Vault, SBOM), U.S. Citizenship for clearance. Preferred: defense/aerospace background, embedded Linux, AI/LLM infrastructure, Go/Python/Bash.
