Senior Software Engineer II, Network Datapath

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize high-performance network datapath software for its cloud infrastructure. The role involves packet processing, forwarding, routing, acceleration, observability, and integration with host and hardware-based networking components. The engineer will work closely with Network Infrastructure, Compute, and hardware teams to implement and operate production networking systems.

Required: strong experience in C, C++, or Go; deep understanding of networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VXLAN, BGP, ECMP, NAT, load balancing, network virtualization); experience with Linux networking internals and high-performance technologies (DPDK, XDP, eBPF, AF_XDP, SR-IOV); multithreading; performance analysis; ability to drive projects end-to-end; strong technical writing and communication.
