Software Engineer - Data Platform

Samsara's Data Platform team seeks a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure for ingesting, processing, cataloging, and accessing petabytes of data. The role involves working on systems like Spark, Databricks, Delta Lake, and data replication from RDS and DynamoDB. This is a specialized software engineering role focused on data infrastructure, not analytics or business data engineering.

Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering and 4+ years building large-scale production data infrastructure or distributed systems. Strong experience with Apache Spark and AWS services (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.). Proficiency in Go, Python, Scala, or Java. Ideal candidates have experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), orchestration tools (Airflow), and streaming/event-driven architectures.
