About the role

DoorDash's Storage organization seeks a Staff Software Engineer to set the multi-year technical vision for the event streaming platform (Kafka, Event Bus). This senior IC role involves owning hardest architectural problems, driving org-wide strategy, and raising engineering bar. Must be located in New York Metro Area for hybrid work.

Requirements

8+ years hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems, deep knowledge of Kafka internals, strong programming in Java or Go, proven cross-team technical leadership, proficiency with AI coding tools. Preferred: experience with diskless streaming architectures (WarpStream, AutoMQ), Kafka contributions, multi-region streaming.
