About the role
DoorDash's Storage organization seeks a Staff Software Engineer to set technical direction for the event streaming platform (Kafka, Event Bus). This senior IC role involves owning architectural decisions, driving org-wide strategy, and solving hard distributed systems problems at massive scale (trillions of events/day). The role is hybrid in New York Metro Area.
Requirements
8+ years hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems. Deep understanding of Kafka internals (log storage, ISR, KRaft, protocol). Strong in Java or Go with concurrency expertise. Led cross-team initiatives. Strong Linux, networking, storage, JVM fundamentals. Understands object-store-backed streaming trade-offs. Clear communication. Proficiency with AI coding tools.
