Sr. Staff Engineer

Illumio, a leader in ransomware and breach containment, seeks a Sr. Staff Engineer to lead architecture and design of large-scale distributed systems for its cloud platform. The role involves driving long-term technical strategy, establishing engineering standards, mentoring senior engineers, and influencing technology decisions across multiple teams. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in distributed systems, Java/Go, cloud platforms, and microservices.

Bachelor's degree in CS or related, 12+ years software engineering experience building large-scale backend and distributed systems, proven experience with cloud-native platforms, deep expertise in distributed systems concepts, expert-level proficiency in Java and/or Go, experience with microservices, Kubernetes, public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), API design, event-driven architectures, and ability to influence technical direction and mentor senior engineers.
