Senior Engineer, Cybersecurity

The Senior Engineer, Cybersecurity at The New York Times is a hands-on contributor who designs, builds, and operates security controls and services to protect systems, data, and users. The role involves owning complex initiatives end-to-end, driving measurable risk reduction, and collaborating across product engineering and enterprise technology with technical depth and operational rigor.

Basic qualifications: 5+ years in software engineering and security, understanding of security controls across domains (access management, encryption, vulnerability management, AI security, network security, auth), knowledge of AWS or GCP, experience with CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, and security practices (SAST, SCA), programming in Go or Python, experience with containerization. Preferred: Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer, HashCorp Vault. This role may require limited on-call hours.
