Senior Machine Learning Scientist, Borrowing

Monzo is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join the Borrowing team. The role focuses on improving customer and business outcomes through machine learning and statistical modeling, primarily in credit risk. You will own ML applications end-to-end, from experiment design to deployment, and work closely with cross-functional teams. The tech stack includes GCP, BigQuery, dbt, PyData, Vertex AI, AWS, Python, Go, and AI tools. You should have strong SQL and Python skills, deep knowledge

Must have: Excellent SQL and Python skills; in-depth knowledge of ML models (gradient boosted trees, logistic regression, neural networks, survival analysis); solid statistics (hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, bootstrap); experience in end-to-end model development for consumer-facing industry; attention to detail; communication skills; ability to build trust. Nice to have: experience in UK/EU retail lending, ML model governance, modern AI tools.
