Senior Backend Software Development Engineer

HackerRank is seeking a Senior Backend Software Development Engineer to drive technical direction of critical backend systems, lead platform-level initiatives, and mentor engineers. The role involves architecting complex backend systems, defining technical strategy, ensuring reliability, and leading cross-functional initiatives. The engineer will own architecture and evolution of core backend services, establish SLOs, and contribute to engineering-wide standards.

Senior backend engineer with 3-6 years experience building production backend systems. Expert in Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or Node.js. Proven ability in distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging, containerization, CI/CD. Must have experience with AI-powered development tools, LLMs, and AI/ML fundamentals. Also experience with cloud platforms, microservices, and mentoring.
