Senior Systems Engineer

Blacksmith builds infrastructure to run CI workloads fast, operating a global fleet of bare-metal machines. We orchestrate tens of millions of Firecracker VMs monthly for 3,000+ companies, with $10M ARR. We manage thousands of bare-metal machines, 100k+ vCPUs concurrently, and a petabyte-scale Ceph cluster. We are extending our CI platform to run agent sandboxes and build a background coding agent. You have developed and scaled distributed systems, enjoy debugging performance and reliability issues across filesystem, network, and storage. You are comfortable with C, C++, Go, Rust, or Zig, and care about efficiency and safety. You are excited about self-hosting with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. You have familiarity with Ceph or MinIO.
