Software Engineer, GPU Infrastructure - HPC

The Fleet High Performance Computing (HPC) team at OpenAI is responsible for the reliability and uptime of the compute fleet powering AI research and products like ChatGPT. As a software engineer, you will build and maintain automation systems for provisioning and managing server fleets, develop tools for monitoring server health, collaborate with clusters and networking teams, and identify performance bottlenecks. You might thrive if you have experience managing large-scale server environments, a balance of building and operationalizing, proficiency in Python, Go, or similar, strong Linux, networking, and server hardware knowledge, and comfort with data analysis tools like SQL, PromQL, and Pandas. Bonus skills include low-level hardware details, hardware management protocols (IPMI, Redfish), HPC or distributed systems experience, and familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
