Senior Software Engineer, Recommendations

Lyft is seeking a senior software engineer for the Applied AI Recommendations team. The role involves building backend systems for rider recommendations, establishing engineering best practices, driving high-impact projects, mentoring engineers, and using AI tools to accelerate productivity. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in on-call rotation.

BS/MS in Computer Engineering, CS, or equivalent; 5+ years software engineering experience; proficiency in Python and Go; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), distributed systems, databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB); proficiency in AI tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor); object-oriented programming; data structures/algorithms; low-ego collaboration. Bonus: ML serving systems, recommendation/ranking systems, feature stores, experimentation frameworks.
