Software Engineer, Backend

Lyft's Machine Learning Platform team seeks a backend Software Engineer to build and operate the platform supporting real-time, online, and offline ML model execution. Responsibilities include developing reliable code, participating in code reviews, monitoring performance, contributing to technical debt reduction, and collaborating with ML engineers and data scientists. The role offers exposure to production ML systems at scale.

BSc/MSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience. 1+ years of backend engineering experience (including internships) with Python, Go, Java, etc. Experience with Linux. Nice to have: exposure to machine learning systems or ML serving/training/deployment infrastructure, familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and experience with AI assisted coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
