Agent Engineer [IC4]

Sourcegraph is hiring a Senior Agent Engineer for the Code Understanding team. The role involves owning agentic direction, designing multi-step agent loops, pragmatic evaluations, model selection, retrieval engineering, and cost/latency optimization. The team builds AI-powered developer tools like Deep Search and Smart Hovers. The engineer will work on a small, senior-leaning team with end-to-end ownership, setting technical direction and mentoring teammates.

Senior engineer with deep agent engineering experience (software engineering, ML, statistics). Must have built and operated models in production, designed multi-step agentic systems, pragmatic about evaluations, autonomous on ambiguous problems, strong software engineering skills (Go, TypeScript, GraphQL, Postgres, Docker), customer-driven, and able to mentor others. Nice-to-haves include LLM-powered developer products, evaluation systems, fine-tuning, retrieval experience.
