Senior Software Engineer, Backend

Vast is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to support the development of systems for artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable backend services for mission-critical security systems, collaborating on secure APIs, developing authentication and authorization infrastructure, and promoting best practices for backend architecture and code quality.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 6+ years of backend software engineering experience with security-focused systems, strong cloud backend experience, proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or C++, solid understanding of distributed systems and API design, and Linux experience. Preferred: solving ambiguous problems, DevOps with Docker/Kubernetes, scaling APIs/microservices, security domain background, strong communication, and ownership mindset.
